How we check every listing
What we check
Before we publish a listing, we call the number and confirm a real person answers, or confirm the company’s website is live. We check the services it offers and what it typically charges against the company’s own published price list, or against what the owner tells us directly on the phone. We ask about insurance too: a listing only shows “Insured” once we’ve actually seen proof, such as a current certificate. If we haven’t seen proof, the listing says “Insurance not confirmed” instead, in exactly the same plain type as every other fact. We never guess at a fact, and we never invent one.
How often we check again
Every listing shows the date we last checked it. We promise to check again within six months.
When we remove a listing
If we can’t reach a company for six months, it comes off the site. That includes a company that stopped answering its phone, closed, or asked to be removed.
Listings are free
A regular listing costs a business nothing. We don’t charge to add, update or keep a listing current — anyone can add a listing or ask us to update one. A small number of businesses pay for a Featured placement, described on our page for business owners; paying never changes what we write about a company or how we check it.
What we track
We count how many times each listing is viewed and how many times its Call and Website buttons are clicked. We keep that count for each listing, and any listed business can ask us for its numbers. This site doesn’t set cookies or keep information about who is visiting. The one exception is our guides, which show Google ads; Google uses cookies to choose them. Our privacy page has the details.
